Spirit Rangers
Joey Clift served as a staff writer / consulting producer on all three seasons of the hit Netflix kids animated series Spirit Rangers!
The series, which was created and Executive Produced by Karissa Valencia (Chumash), features historic Native American representation in animation in front of and behind the camera and received the official blessings of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians to include Cowlitz and Chumash stories, characters and their traditional languages in the series.
Joey received Emmy and Peabody Award nominations for his work on Spirit Rangers. The episode featuring two stories that Joey wrote, "Hoop Dance Off," about hoop dancing culture and "Broken Tree-tys,” about the importance of governments honoring their treaties with tribes, are among his favorites stories of the Spirit Ranger series.
